BC Teen Challenge

BC Teen Challenge is a faith-based residential program for young men and women, ages 19 and over, who are trapped in life-controlling addictions. They recognize that addiction can take numerous forms, and is not just limited to drug and alcohol abuse. The program is residential-based, and is usually completed in 12 to 18 months. With over 1,000 locations in more than 100 countries, including 12 locations across Canada, BC Teen Challenge is affiliated with Global Teen Challenge.

The Okanagan Men’s Centre began in 2005, and is located on 2.5 acres near the Kelowna / Winfield border. A former bed & breakfast, it can accommodate 26 students. The house has undergone extensive renovations and provides a peaceful environment for the students in the program. Anthony Ho is the Director of the Okanagan Men's Centre.

University Christian Ministries

University Christian Ministries is an inclusive community of students seeking to integrate Christian faith and their time at university. UCM is committed to welcoming everyone and serving the university while pursuing a life focused on Jesus.

University students are welcome to join weekly Sunday night gathering on campus, where they eat, worship, and dialogue around a topic relevant to student life. Students can connect with others on campus in a core group where they can be known, explore the bible, and grow in faith. Students can also travel with UCM on their fall and winter retreats, or their annual house-building trip to Mexico.

Matt Duffy and James Perreaux, as ordained ministers, are present on the campus to be available to students, faculty, and staff. They give oversight and direction to the student-led UCM campus club and seek to gather, equip, release, and send university students impacted by the life and person of Jesus.

Westside Community Food Bank

 • David & Faith Lanthier, Directors
 • West Kelowna, BC

Westside Food Bank

Since 1983 the Westside Community Food Bank has been serving food and providing clothes for people living below the poverty line. The Food Bank assists families so that they don’t have to choose between medicine or heat or food. However, the goal is to not only feed the poor and working poor in West Kelowna, but to equip them with more skills to help them with the resources they have.

After operating out of temporary facilities at Emmanuel Church, the Westside Community Food Bank has recently purchased a new building to help the increasing number of families and children requiring food and assistance. This new larger facility will provide more storage and help keep clients sheltered from the elements while receiving food. Their dream is to renovate this facility and run workshops for skills such as budgeting, cooking or sewing. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, show him how to fish and you fed him for his life.

The Westside Community Food Bank currently serves 220 families, an increase of 50% over 2008. David and Faith Lanthier manage all aspects of the Food Bank.
